Thousand Islands to Focus on Road and Channel Development

Thousand Islands Vice Regent Junaedi, led the meeting about Thousand Islands SKPD/UKPD's work program plans in Mitra Praja Building, Sunter, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Monday (2/3).

Road and drain infrastructure must be a development priority this year

In the meeting, before planning development, the SKPD/UKPD and the Technical Work Unit Division heads should conduct a study and comparison with development that has been carried out in five urban areas in Jakarta.

"Road and channel infrastructure must be a development priority this year," he expressed.

He explained that inundation was often seen in some residential islands when it rains with high intensity. Moreover, there were still many potholes and narrow channels.

"To handle it, we can use U-Ditch channels and concrete roads with absorption wells every few meters. It will smoothen the flow of water and will be neater," he explained.

Thousand Islands Development Economy Assistant Iwan P. Samosir added that the budgeting, auctions and timing of each UKPD program should be explored further.

"It is needed related to monitoring and evaluating work programs," he stated.
